Unsworth & Barra, PLC has a large and diversified trial practice with extensive experience in personal injury, automobile, construction, commercial, premises liability, products liability, environmental, municipal liability, dram shop, insurance coverage and bad faith claims. Our lawyers have represented clients in all Vermont State and Federal Courts on both the trial and appellate levels. We have been counsel of record in several significant Vermont Supreme Court and Second Circuit decisions involving issues of trial practice, tort liability, environmental law and insurance coverage.

Our firm has an extensive trusts and estates practice, including wills, trusts, probate and trust administration. We also work with families to minimize nursing home expenses through Medicaid and Medicare planning.

Our firm represents many large landlords and businesses and has expertise in landlord/tenant and premises liability law.

Unsworth & Barra, PLC is counsel for several Vermont municipalities and has extensive experience in a wide range of issues confronting Vermont's cities and towns, including zoning, land use and civil rights.

Our commercial practice is large and varied. We represent banks and other lenders in a variety of regulatory and transactional matters. We also represent businesses and individuals regarding the cost effective startup and set-up of business entities, general business operations and the purchase and sale of businesses and assets.
We have broad experience in real estate, development, planning and zoning and environmental matters. A division of the firm, ABX Title, provides title abstracting and title searches, prepares closing documents for lenders and performs closings, all at competitive rates. The title company serves the entire State of Vermont and northern New Hampshire.

Our attorneys have extensive insurance defense experience. We have defended hundreds of insureds against tort claims and have also represented insurers against first-party coverage claims.
